Workplace Stress Signs
Dramatic changes in work performance
- A sudden drop in output or quality
- A punctual person becoming tardy, calling in sick, or leaving early
Changes in behavior
- Shy and withdrawn when used to be gregarious and outgoing
- Angry when used to be even tempered
Sleep disturbances
- Dark circles under the eyes
- Trouble staying awake and alert
Changes in eating behavior
- Sudden weight gain or weight loss
Inappropriate fears
- Makes excuses for not being alone with a particular person
- Won’t go to parts of the building unaccompanied.
Hostile language or aggressive behavior
- Swearing
- Verbally wishing harm to others
Overly compliant behavior
- Willing to do whatever is asked, even if it’s not in the person’s best interests (excessive and consistent overtime, taking on another’s workload)
Depression
- Hopelessness, withdrawal from friends and colleagues
- Threats or attempts of suicide
Delinquency
- Stealing from office or friends
