First Nonprofit Partners with the Center as a Corporate Sustainer

The Nonprofit Risk Management Center is pleased to announce that First Nonprofit® Insurance Company, an insurance provider with a long and exemplary history of serving the nonprofit sector, has enrolled as the Center’s newest Corporate Sustainer. As a Corporate Sustainer, First Nonprofit® has expressed its public support for the mission and educational programs of the Nonprofit Risk Management Center.

“First Nonprofit® has been a ‘behind the scenes’ supporter of the Center for many years,” notes Melanie Lockwood Herman, Executive Director of the Center. “I am thrilled to announce that the company has stepped up its support and I am very proud to welcome First Nonprofit as our partner. Our shared commitment to helping 501(c)(3) nonprofits adopt model risk management practices and First Nonprofit’s service in 23 states makes our partnership a terrific fit. I speak for the Board and staff of the Center in expressing our hope that this will be the first step in a long and mutually rewarding relationship.”

Herman adds, “First Nonprofit® offers a wide range of coverages tailored to meet the needs of nonprofits. The company’s commitment to insuring nonprofits has been steady and unwavering, even while the nonprofit sector has weathered difficult economic times. We’re deeply grateful that the leaders of this company have made a long-term commitment to provide affordable and comprehensive risk financing options for nonprofits.”

“First Nonprofit has been dedicated to serving the nonprofit community for over 30 years. We look forward to working with The Nonprofit Risk Management Center. Our institutional memory can only be enhanced by this new partnership,” said Trish Shanahan, Senior Vice President of First Nonprofit.

About the Nonprofit Risk Management Center and the Corporate Sustainers Program

The Nonprofit Risk Management Center, established in 1990, provides assistance and resources for community-serving nonprofit organizations. As a nonprofit itself, the Center is uniquely positioned to both understand and respond to questions with practical, affordable suggestions for controlling risks that threaten a nonprofit’s ability to accomplish its mission. Participants in the Corporate Sustainers Program pay an annual fee to the Center, which supports the Center’s technical assistance program and covers the cost of corporate sponsorship of the Center’s annual Risk Management and Finance Summit for Nonprofits. For more information on the Corporate Sustainers Program, contact Melanie Lockwood Herman, Executive Director, at (202) 785-3891 or Melanie@nonprofitrisk.org.

About First Nonprofit® Insurance Company

For over 30 years, First Nonprofit® Insurance Company has been committed to providing stable, reliable insurance coverage for nonprofit organizations that have been left behind by the commercial market. Unlike other companies that insure nonprofits only when market conditions are favorable, First Nonprofit proudly and exclusively serves as the insurer for over 1,800 nonprofits. Because it is difficult to find an insurance company that is committed solely to working with nonprofit organizations, First Nonprofit works hard to ensure that its policyholders have the necessary protection to keep thriving and pursuing their missions. First Nonprofit is wholly owned by Mutual Insurers Holding Company, which affords policyholders all of the rights of mutual ownership. By any measure, First Nonprofit is one of the strongest and most committed property and casualty insurers serving the nonprofit community. The company is rated A- (Excellent) Financial Size VII by A.M. Best Company and A (Exceptional) by Demotech. First Nonprofit’s programs are endorsed by several nonprofit associations nationwide. The high quality of service provided by First Nonprofit is reflected by our continuously high renewal retention rate and the tremendous amount of loyalty shared between the company and its policyholders.

First Nonprofit insures only 501(c)3 charitable, religious and educational organizations and offers property, general and professional liability, auto, umbrella, workers compensation, directors and officers liability and employment practices liability.

First Nonprofit insures organizations in 23 states: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Washington D.C., Wisconsin and in Ohio operating as First Insurance Company for Nonprofits.
